A Bunker shot is very similar to a Lob Shot.
This is why we start with a Lob first.

Four shots will be learned in this section:

Skill development:

Ability to hit a high shot

The Lob Shot should be played when the ball needs to stop immediately and is sitting on top of the grass. When the lie is not perfect or the shot is not necessary, play a pitch shot.

Lob is played with a Sand or Lob Wedge.

Skill development:

Ability to use the bounce of the club

When the ball is on an even lie or uphill lie in the bunker and is on top of the sand. Then play the standard bunker shot. Same technique as the Lob Shot. It can be played with all Wedges (PW|GW|SW|LW)

You can use different Wedges to hit certain length, start with a Sand Wedge first.

Skill development:

Ability to use the leading edge of the club

When the ball is halfway into the sand. Play the Buried Lie shot.

You can use different Wedges to hit certain length, start with a Sand Wedge first.

Skill development:

Ability to hit extra high

In case the ball is on a downhill lie or the lib of the bunker is very high. You need to let the ball fly high. This section explains how to create extra height.

Use a Sand Wedge or Lob Wedge to hit the extra high Bunker shot.
